One Year Wedding Anniversary Trip

This is over a month late but I'm going to post it anyways... :)

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on August 12! We decided to plan a fun little weekend trip to Leavenworth, Washington. What a cute little town!

We stayed in an adorable cabin with a breath taking view located in Plain, Washington (about a half hour up the mountain from Leavenworth).

We ventured into the town to drink beer (when in Rome), eat bratwursts (when in Rome again), and go wine tasting (why not? We are wine-o's). It was a HOT day so we ended our day of fun with a big ice cream cone! :D

Cheers to our first year married and to many more to come!

Go Sounders!

Holy cow! It's been way too long since we have updated...

Well! A few weeks ago, Kevin won Sounders tickets at his work. We had never been before so obviously we were really excited to go! Although we aren't big sport fans, we absolutely LOVE sporting events. That may sound weird, but the atmosphere is so exciting! I mean there's good beer, good food, and you get to shout obscenities at the other team...what's not to love? ;)

Here's some pics of our fun night in the city:

What an awesome view!

He was "done taking pictures"... haha

Goodbye Childhood Home

My parents house has been on the market for 2 years and recently they just accepted someone's offer on it.  We moved to Spokane from the Seattle area when I was 3 years old. In the past 21 years of them owning it, there have been so many memories.

  • My dad taught me how to sing and harmonize along with him by the fireplace.
  • I learned how to read with my brothers help in my old bedroom downstairs.
  • My pops taught me how to ride a bike with no training wheels in the grass by the barn.
  • I met two of my greatest childhood friends in my moms at home daycare.
  • On my 14th birthday, my dad let me drive the car around our neighborhood a few times, boy did I think I was cool.
  • And of course, two of the best weddings of all time!
That is just the tip of the iceberg! I could go on and on forever.

The house was to close on Monday May 21st, so naturally we decided that we had to go out with a bang. We travelled across the mountains to be together there one last time. It was so much fun! Looking around at everyone laughing and enjoying themselves really made me think that this is a small taste of what Heaven will be like. All love & laughter.

It was a lot more difficult to say goodbye than I expected. I know that it is just a house and that I cannot take it with me when I pass. But picturing another family living there just made me so sad. Even though it was just a house, it was my house and that house holds my memories (among many other peoples memories as well - not trying discount that at all! lol).

Needless to say, the ride home was really hard. But I know deep down in my heart of hearts, that it's not the home that makes the family. It's the family that makes the home. I thank God every day for the incredible family that he has blessed me with. They truly are my small piece of Heaven here on earth.

Blessed beyond words,
Mrs. Hart

Happy (Belated) Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter (as usual)! Honestly, how could you not? Knowing that the Lord has risen is so amazing and inspiring!

Kevin and I went to our church (Mars Hill) and it was packed! We got to witness many people coming to know Christ and being baptized :) After  that our family gathered together to enjoy a delicious meal.

Hope everyone had a great Easter as well!

Thanks for reading!

Got over 100 hits on our blog today! Thanks for reading everyone ;)

Our New Home

I remember I promised that I would post more pictures of our new home! The downstairs is pretty much done for know (thanks to my lovely sister-in-law Stephanie. Click here to view her blog), but the upstairs is still a work in progress. I can't decide on how I want to decorate the 2 bedrooms. I just don't even know where to start! I have so many ideas, but I can't seem to just pick one.

Thankfully, me and some of my girl friends are heading down to Portland for a girls trip this weekend and are going to stop at Home Goods on the way home. I've heard amazing things about this place and I am so excited to check it out! Hopefully I can find some inspiration for the two rooms upstairs while I'm there :)

When you first walk into the door and look to the left, this is what you see...

As you walk in, you will see the kitchen on your left...

and the powder room on your right.

From the kitchen, you can peer into the small dining room and living room...

Okay, let's head upstairs!

Entry way...

Goin' upstairs.
(This is also the view when you first walk in the door.)

Slowly adding more :)

One more small flight, and we are almost there!
Laundry room is the door on the left.

When you walk down the hallway,
the bathroom is the first door on the right

Guest room is the door on the left.
BLEH! Seriously, I know. It needs help.
This room will be our guest room/Kevin's office.

We are planning on re-painting this room, getting a bed frame, some fun creative storage, and turning the closet into where the desk goes. This is our project over the next month or so. I will keep you posted with how it goes!

Now on to the Master...

We got a new bed frame because ours basically fell apart because it's been moved so many times :/ but I really love this new one :) It's high up so Albus can't jump on and it matches all the other furniture that I have in the room.

This room is also a work in progress. I will post pictures after I figure out what I'm going to do with it :)

One thing I love about our closet is the built in shelves! I can organize my purses, shoes, hats, scarves and accessories with ease. However, it isn't exactly completed, so please excuse my messy closet ;)

Kevin is going to add a few more things in here so I can fit some more stuff. As you can see, at the moment it is a tight squeeze.

Well that is all that I have for now. Like I said earlier, I will keep everyone updated with the small projects that we are working on :)

Our New Addition

Meet Albus Dumbledore! We just got her on Saturday from Post Falls, ID. Since we were driving over the mountains, we decided to make a weekend out of it and visit Kevin's parents. She loved playing in their big back yard, it was like Doggie Disneyland.

Her on the car ride after we picked her up

Bein' cute

"Albus Dumbledog" to the rescue!

Our little family :)

We have lots of silly videos of her and will be posting them throughout the week.

Moved in and loving life!

Sorry about the lack of posts. We were really busy (I know, I always say that, but it's true!) We closed on our townhome and got the keys on Tuesday February 28th, so we are officially home owners! Woo hoo! :D
Kevin and I moved EVERYTHING by ourselves that same day. We were so sore after all that!

Lately, we have been puttering around the house unpacking, organizing, and decorating :)

Pictures to follow soon!

Art Dump N Stuff

Hey everyone,

figured I should do an update since Whitney has been doing most of the leg work on here lately. It's been busy recently so got a few things to mention. I am now contracting in Kirkland for Microsoft making Halo 4! Its a really fun project and I am learning a ton from all the really experiences effects artists there. The only thing that's a  bit rough is the 3+ hours I have to spend commuting back and forth each day. Soon we will hopefully be living in our new home and we will get to spend much more time together during the week. Progress on the house is coming along really well. Still have a lot of paper work to get through but there are worse things in the world.

on the topic of the new house, Whitney is being super awesome and agreed to kinda let me convert the guest room closet into a work space. eventually we will probably be taking down most of the shelving and I'll probably be installing so lights and quark board to hang artwork on. this will also give us a little more room for the guest bed and allow us to hide it all pretty easy with a separator or something. I'll make sure to put up some pictures of the modifications :).

New Gadget!
So on the topic of home improvement me and whit where discussing how to get internet down to our tv if we have our cable box upstairs next to my computer. Of coarse my first inclination is to drill holes in everything and string a wire through it because wireless just doesn't really cut it when your playing a competitive video game. whit is very against the idea of stringing a wire through the house because its un safe and its ugly which I  challenged at first but as usuall Whit has some very valid points. However a few days later I came upon this little "Magic Box".
Link to the Article
basically what it does is it runs your internet through your houses electrical network providing you with a wired connection wherever you have one of these bad boys plugged in. It's not as fast as a normal wired connection but it is faster and more reliable than a wireless network. It runs for about 80$ and is a great compromise for the both of us and will still allow us to watch HD content on Netflix through my Xbox down in the living room.

Apart from house stuff I have just been working and and dreaming up more personal projects. Of those I have been paying the most attention to Improving my painting skills, writing and drawing for a story I've been working on for the past 4 years, and also doing concept art for a cell phone game I am just in the starting phases of with one of my grooms man Josh May. Here are some pictures

this one was particularly fun because I was designing a military uniform and figuring out new and interesting ways of showing rank and personal achievements and what not.

these are the first round of concepts for the cell phone game we call Infinite Corridor. Just some quick characters and a whole mess of objects that we are going to decorate the levels with.

Cant wait to move! Be praying for us that this whole process goes smoothly.

Goodwill Outlet

Have you ever been to Goodwill Outlet? I LOVE this place! It's in the SODO area of Seattle and to be clear, it's not your normal neighborhood Goodwill Shop. It's this insane way of purchasing used clothes/shoes/bags/household items/furniture/etc. for unbelievable prices. It's a huge warehouse filled with bins that you basically have to dig through. Sometimes you hit the jackpot, and other times you walk away with little to nothing. For me, it's a treasure hunt :)

The Pro's:

  • You pay by the pound. Yeah, that's right I said it. By the POUND! Crazy? Heck yes!
  • If you are willing to spend time, you can find great brands and items. I got brands like GAP, J Crew, Banana Republic, American Eagle, etc., all for about .70 cents a piece. I even came across a few 7 for All Mankind jeans but they were too big.

The Con's:
  • It's a bit dingy/dusty on the inside, so if you have allergies they might act up after a bit.
  • Very eccentric (or strange) shoppers
  • You have to be patient

Warnings:

  • If you are a germaphobe - stear clear, this place is not for you. I repeat, this place is not for you!
  • If hate sorting through racks of clothes at Ross, you most likely won't like digging for clothes in large unorganized bins either.
  • Obviously, there are no dressing rooms so you just have to guess how it will fit.
  • It's a feeding frenzy when the new bins roll in.

Tips:

  • Go on a full stomach. Nothing is worse then having to cut your thrifting day short because of an unsatisfied tummy.
  • You're hands get pretty dusty and dirty throughout the journey, so consider wearing gloves.
  • If you have allergies, consider wearing a mouth/nose mask.
  • The large white canvas rolling bins are customers carts, so don't go sifting through them or you might have an unpleasant conversation with a fellow shopper.

Basically, if you aren't afraid to get your hands a little dirty, maybe sneeze a bit from the dust, and not be in the nicest area of Seattle, then I would recommend checking it out :)

Here are some of the "treasures" that I found this week all for a whopping $7.53 ;)

Small basket or bin to put magazines in

Beautiful red colored serving dish. I was thinking I could use it to display candles or something as well.

Okay, so maybe this is a sign that I spend a little too much time on Pinterest.com, but I am in love with wreaths right now. Not just for the Holiday season, but for all year round!

I found this little guy, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. All I knew was that I liked it. You can't tell from the picture but twinkles as it catches the light. I thought it would be a fun Christmas decoration, or even look neat on a book shelf. Kevin had the idea of cutting the wires in the bottom and having it be a tree topper. Smart man ;)

I also found a cozy sweatshirt and fun shirt dress. No pics of that though.

If anyone wants to check this place out, I would be happy to accompany them :)

Love,
Mrs. Hart
