Goodbye Childhood Home

My parents house has been on the market for 2 years and recently they just accepted someone's offer on it.  We moved to Spokane from the Seattle area when I was 3 years old. In the past 21 years of them owning it, there have been so many memories.

  • My dad taught me how to sing and harmonize along with him by the fireplace.
  • I learned how to read with my brothers help in my old bedroom downstairs.
  • My pops taught me how to ride a bike with no training wheels in the grass by the barn.
  • I met two of my greatest childhood friends in my moms at home daycare.
  • On my 14th birthday, my dad let me drive the car around our neighborhood a few times, boy did I think I was cool.
  • And of course, two of the best weddings of all time!
That is just the tip of the iceberg! I could go on and on forever.

The house was to close on Monday May 21st, so naturally we decided that we had to go out with a bang. We travelled across the mountains to be together there one last time. It was so much fun! Looking around at everyone laughing and enjoying themselves really made me think that this is a small taste of what Heaven will be like. All love & laughter.

It was a lot more difficult to say goodbye than I expected. I know that it is just a house and that I cannot take it with me when I pass. But picturing another family living there just made me so sad. Even though it was just a house, it was my house and that house holds my memories (among many other peoples memories as well - not trying discount that at all! lol).

Needless to say, the ride home was really hard. But I know deep down in my heart of hearts, that it's not the home that makes the family. It's the family that makes the home. I thank God every day for the incredible family that he has blessed me with. They truly are my small piece of Heaven here on earth.

Blessed beyond words,
Mrs. Hart

Happy (Belated) Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter (as usual)! Honestly, how could you not? Knowing that the Lord has risen is so amazing and inspiring!

Kevin and I went to our church (Mars Hill) and it was packed! We got to witness many people coming to know Christ and being baptized :) After  that our family gathered together to enjoy a delicious meal.

Hope everyone had a great Easter as well!

Thanks for reading!

Got over 100 hits on our blog today! Thanks for reading everyone ;)

Our New Home

I remember I promised that I would post more pictures of our new home! The downstairs is pretty much done for know (thanks to my lovely sister-in-law Stephanie. Click here to view her blog), but the upstairs is still a work in progress. I can't decide on how I want to decorate the 2 bedrooms. I just don't even know where to start! I have so many ideas, but I can't seem to just pick one.

Thankfully, me and some of my girl friends are heading down to Portland for a girls trip this weekend and are going to stop at Home Goods on the way home. I've heard amazing things about this place and I am so excited to check it out! Hopefully I can find some inspiration for the two rooms upstairs while I'm there :)

When you first walk into the door and look to the left, this is what you see...

As you walk in, you will see the kitchen on your left...

and the powder room on your right.

From the kitchen, you can peer into the small dining room and living room...

Okay, let's head upstairs!

Entry way...

Goin' upstairs.
(This is also the view when you first walk in the door.)

Slowly adding more :)

One more small flight, and we are almost there!
Laundry room is the door on the left.

When you walk down the hallway,
the bathroom is the first door on the right

Guest room is the door on the left.
BLEH! Seriously, I know. It needs help.
This room will be our guest room/Kevin's office.

We are planning on re-painting this room, getting a bed frame, some fun creative storage, and turning the closet into where the desk goes. This is our project over the next month or so. I will keep you posted with how it goes!

Now on to the Master...

We got a new bed frame because ours basically fell apart because it's been moved so many times :/ but I really love this new one :) It's high up so Albus can't jump on and it matches all the other furniture that I have in the room.

This room is also a work in progress. I will post pictures after I figure out what I'm going to do with it :)

One thing I love about our closet is the built in shelves! I can organize my purses, shoes, hats, scarves and accessories with ease. However, it isn't exactly completed, so please excuse my messy closet ;)

Kevin is going to add a few more things in here so I can fit some more stuff. As you can see, at the moment it is a tight squeeze.

Well that is all that I have for now. Like I said earlier, I will keep everyone updated with the small projects that we are working on :)

Our New Addition

Meet Albus Dumbledore! We just got her on Saturday from Post Falls, ID. Since we were driving over the mountains, we decided to make a weekend out of it and visit Kevin's parents. She loved playing in their big back yard, it was like Doggie Disneyland.

Her on the car ride after we picked her up

"Albus Dumbledog" to the rescue!

Our little family :)

We have lots of silly videos of her and will be posting them throughout the week.

Love,
Mr. & Mrs. Hart....and Ablus Dumbledore Hart ;)
